ALLSHAFT REPAIR
The service you deserve.
CRANKSHAFT REPAIR & GRINDING
Allshaft Repair has capabilities from a simple polish to a weld repair.
We can service the crankshaft on your racecar, large diesel or your daily driver.
Our shop has 3 crankshaft grinders and can grind from very small 1 cyl. cranks to very large diesels up to 86" long with up to 10" of stroke. Balancing is also offered on our CEMB computer balancer along with many other services. We would be happy to answer any questions or concerns that you may have.

BALANCING
Balancing reduces internal loads and vibrations that stress metal and may eventually lead to component failure.Â
A provided bobweight is required for balancing. If the bobweight is unknown we would need the pistons, rods, bearings, rings, pins and locks so we can weigh them to find out the bobweight. For externally balanced crankshafts we would need the flywheel and the damper as well.

MAGNAFLUXING
Due to the age and stress of most engines the Magnaflux method is utilized to identify cracks in a crankshaft. The Magnaflux process is a critical step as many cracks would otherwise go unnoticed. Cracks in crankshafts are often not visible to the naked eye.

GRINDING
The crankshaft grinding process consists of removing a tiny amount of material from the rod and main journals to rebuild the overall part back to OEM specifications. Having a perfectly smooth journal is essential to the efficiency of movement in the piston firing action of the engine.

POLISHING
Why polish a crankshaft?
In order to improve the surface accuracy and dimensional stability of the crankshaft, it is necessary to superfinish and polish the connecting rod journal and thrust surface.
![Welding](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/21fc29_e17428ae7f5043378597fbce9c9509cf~mv2.jpg/v1/fill/w_453,h_340,al_c,q_80,usm_0.66_1.00_0.01,enc_avif,quality_auto/save-crank-pic-4.jpg)
WELDING
The submerged arc welding process uses a granular flux that flows over the active weld. This is necessary when the thrust flange becomes worn from transmission or clutch/torque converter issues. The flange can then be welded and
re-machined to proper dimensions.

BEAD BLASTING
A bead blast finish can clean your part's surface and improve the overall appearance, creating a uniform surface.

STRAIGHTENING
A small force is applied to the correct places repeatedly to bring the shaft back to its original straightness.

KEYWAY CUTTING
The channel, or keyway, gives a pulley or sprocket a spot to lock onto the round bar using a square piece of metal known as a key. The purpose of the key is to make a solid connection in the assembly by snuggly fitting between the shaft and the gear.
